Why take supplements?

While ideally, the food we eat should have all of the micronutrients and macronutrients our bodies need to perform optimally, the reality is that many Americans following the standard American diet unknowingly live in a nutrient-deficient state that can affect both short-term and long-term health and well being.  At Path of Life we do not make any blanket recommendations for use of supplements; rather, we counsel our patients individually to determine whether supplementation may be right for you, and if so, what supplements would benefit you most.  The articles below are musings on a few supplements we often recommend, such as vitamin D and omega 3s, and how imbalances in these micronutrients and others may be affecting your health.
