Are drugs really the answer to our healthcare crisis? The evidence would suggest not. Use of pharmaceutical drugs has been increasing exponentially since the early 1970s, and yet the life expectancy of Americans has not greatly increased during this time. Given, many factors can be in play here, such as increased stress in the American lifestyle and environmental toxins; however, the bottom line is that clearly drugs are not the silver bullet that the pharmaceutical industry might like for us to believe. Many drugs are aimed at controlling or silencing symptoms, and actually fail to address the underlying problem that is announced by the presence of symptoms. And, most drugs prescribed to alleviate symptoms actually create symptoms of their own, for which more drugs are prescribed. This viscous cycle has led to a crisis in which an absolutely inordinate number of Americans are taking multiple prescription drugs on a regular basis (see http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db42.htm for CDC stats on drug use in America). It's about time we hop off of the medical merry-go-round and address the real problems, not their symptoms. Getting adjusted to eliminate subluxations (which are akin to traffic jams that reduce the flow of information within the nervous system) may be just the thing to solve the actual problem, to eliminate the obstacle that's getting in the way of YOUR health. Many people report that once they start getting adjusted, their use of prescription medication greatly decreases or ceases altogether. Does this sound like the right path for you? If so, read through some of the articles below which highlight the dangers of reliance on medication, then call us to schedule an appointment to see whether chiropractic care can help you to regain the health that is your birthright.
